About Bethany Legg, AMFT

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Compassionate, systemic therapy for individuals, couples, and families.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, or unsure where to begin, you’re not alone. Reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve been managing challenges on your own for a long time. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. You just need a safe place to begin. I’m Bethany Legg, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist under the supervision of Keiara Marsh-Cartwright, LMFT. I work with teens, adults, and couples who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns shaping their lives.

A Systemic, Client-Led Approach

My work is client-led, trauma-informed, and systemic. We explore how your relationships, family dynamics, life experiences and cultural context influence your emotions and behaviors. You guide the pace and focus while I offer support, insight, and tools to help you move forward.  I strive to create an affirming space for clients from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Therapy is collaborative, and your voice, values and story always matter.

Who I Work With

I support teens, adults, and couples who feel stuck in patterns that affect their relationships, sense of self, or emotional well-being. Many clients are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, family-of-origin dynamics, life transitions, or
challenges with boundaries, self-esteem, and identity. My clients often want a therapy space that looks at the whole system, not just symptoms.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

Sessions are thoughtful, relational and grounded. Together, we explore emotions, patterns, and experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. I may provide gentle education about how the brain, body and nervous system respond to
stress and trauma so things make more sense and feel less overwhelming.

Your First Session

We start with a simple intake to understand your background, goals and what brings you to therapy. From there, we create a plan that fits your needs and helps you begin noticing patterns, processing experiences, and building skills that support
lasting change.

Areas I Commonly Support:
● Anxiety and depression
● Relationship and communication challenges
● Trauma and emotional wounds
● Boundaries, people-pleasing and perfectionism
● Grief and loss
● Life transitions and identity shifts

Therapeutic Approaches

I use evidence-based, relational, and systemic approaches, including Trauma-Informed Systemic Therapy, Brainspotting,  Experiential Therapy, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. My work focuses on understanding your experiences, supporting regulation and building healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

About Me

Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade as an early childhood educator, working closely with children and families. This shaped my passion for generational health, relationships and trauma-informed care. I grew up in a large blended family in Limestone County, Alabama and value connection, nature and shared time together. I earned my undergraduate degree in Human Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Child Development from the University of North Alabama and my graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Trauma-Informed Systemic Therapy from National University.

My Hope for You

Feeling stuck does not mean you’re failing. Often, it means something in your system is asking for care. My hope is to offer a space where you feel supported, heard, and understood as you reconnect with your strengths, values, and the life you want to build.

You don’t have to do this alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
