About Heather Harper
I’m Heather Harper, a pre-licensed therapist working toward my LPC-MHSP under clinical supervision (Carlin Giles, TN License #1812). Since 2019, I’ve had the privilege of working part-time in Sumner County, counseling children, families, and couples. My approach centers on helping children, ages 5-12, and their families navigate life’s traumatic experiences and build healthier relationships.
I believe in using a range of methods to connect with each child individually. Whether through play, art, or conversation, my goal is to help children express their feelings positively and be seen and heard. I also work closely with parents to identify strategies that engage and support their family system.
As a parent myself, especially of a child who has faced significant medical trauma, I understand the challenges families go through. I’m passionate about guiding children through transitions, stressors, and challenges while promoting positive family dynamics.
How I Help
I specialize in working with children dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergence. My eclectic, trauma-informed approach includes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Brainspotting (Level 1). I tailor my methods to meet the unique needs of each child, recognizing that healing looks different for everyone. I also work closely with families to promote understanding and provide tools for navigating life’s challenges.
Personal Life
When I'm not working, I’m a wife and mother of three, enjoying family time and outdoor activities around Sumner County. We love spending time at the lake and embracing the beauty of our community.
