About Trey Manor
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
In-person in Gallatin, TN & Hendersonville, TN • Online throughout Tennessee
Hi, I’m Trey Manor, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). I work with teens (15+), adults, couples, and families in Gallatin and Hendersonville, TN, and online throughout Tennessee. My work centers on one simple belief: everyone wants to be known and loved, but most of us were never really taught how to ask for it, accept it, or give it. That’s where I come in.
Who I Work With:
I have a particular passion for working with couples, men, military personnel, and first responders, though I work with a wide range of clients and presenting concerns. Most of the people I see are carrying some version of the same fear: that they are not enough, that no one truly cares, that everyone will eventually leave, or that they have no control over their situation. Those fears are real, and they are workable. My job is to help you understand where they come from and what to do with them.
I also specialize in addiction recovery, anxiety, depression, trauma, divorce, infidelity, pre-marital counseling, PTSD, and men’s issues, particularly around understanding, expressing, and regulating emotions.
What I Specialize In:
Couples Therapy
If you and your partner keep having the same fight, have lost trust, or are just feeling disconnected, couples therapy can help you break the cycle. I help partners de-escalate conflict, rebuild trust, and get to the root of what is actually driving the tension, which is usually an unmet need or an old wound, not the dishes or the credit card statement.
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma has a way of staying with you long after the event is over. Whether you’ve experienced a single traumatic event or years of difficult experiences, I use Brainspotting to help clients process and reintegrate what happened so it no longer runs the show.
Men's Emotional Health
A lot of men come to therapy having never been given the tools to understand or talk about what they feel. That is not a personal failure; it is a gap in what most of us are taught. I use practical, straightforward approaches to help men build emotional awareness and regulation skills, because understanding your emotions is just like any other skill: it can be learned.
Military & First Responders
I have a deep respect for the men and women who serve in the military and first responder roles, and a personal understanding of what that life demands. I specialize in helping this population heal from trauma, restore balance, and reconnect with themselves and the people they love.
How I Work:
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy helps clients examine the stories they carry about themselves and their relationships and begin to rewrite the ones that no longer serve them. You are not your problem. Together we separate who you are from what you are going through, and start building a story that actually reflects your values and strengths.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps clients get clear on what truly matters to them and start moving toward it, even when difficult thoughts and feelings are in the way. Rather than fighting your inner experience, we learn to make room for it while still taking action toward the life you want.
My Style:
I am direct, practical, and genuinely invested in watching you get better. I will not just nod along; I will help you connect the dots between your experiences, your emotions, and your relationships in ways that actually make sense. Watching clients become confident and capable of handling the curveballs life throws at them is, honestly, the best part of my job.
Background & Training
I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lee University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Tennessee, License #1952, and see clients in person at Tennessee Mental Wellness’s Gallatin, TN and Hendersonville, TN offices, and online for individuals and couples in Tennessee.
Specialized training includes:
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level 1 & 2 — one of the most well-researched approaches to couples therapy, giving partners practical tools for managing conflict, deepening friendship, and building lasting trust
- Brainspotting, Level 1 — a brain-body approach for processing trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain that is stored in the nervous system and can be difficult to reach through talk therapy alone
A Little About Me
I genuinely love what I do, and I think that matters. Outside of the office, I stay busy with two young kids, serving in the National Guard, and trying to maintain some version of work-life balance. Spoiler: it is a constant work in progress, and I would not have it any other way. When I do get downtime, you will find me spending time with friends and family, staying active, reading, hosting game nights, or picking up a new skill just because I can. Work-life balance is something I take seriously for myself and something I often talk about with clients too.
Why I Became a Therapist
I became a therapist to help people. Yes, I fully recognize how cliché that sounds. But the truth is, I am most effective when I am helping others through conversation and real relationship. I believe everyone wants to be known and loved, and yet most of us were never taught how to ask for it, accept it, or give it. I want to help people learn those things so they can actually receive and enjoy the deep connections I believe every person deserves.
What I Believe About Therapy
A few things that guide my work:
- You have to understand yourself in order to explain what you need to someone else.
- Understanding, managing, and expressing emotions is a skill, just like lifting weights, maintaining a yard, working on a car, or making music. Anyone can learn it with time and practice.
- My sincere hope for every client is that one day they walk in, thank me for my time, and let me know they no longer need my services because they are fully equipped and confident in handling their own life. That is the goal.
