About Emily Runyan

Founder & Clinical Director, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Emily Runyan is the Founder and Clinical Director of Tennessee Mental Wellness in Gallatin, TN. Emily's work in mental health began over 25 years ago and has included a variety of areas such as wilderness therapy, residential treatment, community mental health, and private practice.

Healing hearts, strengthening relationships. This guiding vision led Emily to establish Tennessee Mental Wellness in 2017, with a mission to bring excellence in mental health care to Middle Tennessee. Committed to meeting the diverse needs of the community, she has expanded her practice into two branches: Tennessee Mental Wellness Premium, focused on concierge-level care, and Tennessee Mental Wellness Insurance, dedicated to accessible mental health services. As a dual practice owner, Emily continues to lead with a dedication to high-quality, compassionate care for individuals and families.

Emily is passionate about cultivating a team of exceptional therapists in Sumner County. She has created a unique and empowering workplace where therapists receive competitive pay, benefits, ongoing training, and tools to advance their careers. This commitment ensures that her team continually grows and thrives, providing clients with the best possible care.

Emily is an international speaker and writer, providing corporate and community speaking engagements. She shares her expertise in trauma healing and emotional well-being, helping individuals and organizations apply mental health principles to daily life and the workplace. Her talks provide practical strategies for resilience, psychological safety, stress reduction and healthier relationships/workplace cultures.

Though Emily is a skilled clinician specializing in trauma recovery, couples counseling, and brainspotting, she is no longer accepting new clients. She continues to serve her existing clients while focusing on growing Tennessee Mental Wellness and expanding its impact.

For balance and self-care, Emily loves to be in the outdoors, read, meditate, do yoga, laugh with friends, and, most especially, cherish time with her husband and beloved blended family.
