Emily Runyan, LMFT

Founder, Clinical Director, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
$225 per 50-minute session

Emily Runyan is a Gallatin, TN, therapist and the Founder and Clinical Director of Tennessee Mental Wellness. What started as a solo private practice in early 2017 quickly grew into a group practice and has been expanding ever since.

Emily has been working in the mental health field since 1997. She started as an instructor at a wilderness treatment program for at-risk youth during the summers of her undergraduate years. There, she discovered the power of human transformation through therapy and meaningful human connection. She also developed a deep love for the outdoors, which has been a mainstay throughout her adult life. Emily continued her mental health career as a supervisor in a residential treatment facility. Later, she became a therapist in community mental health, a Christian-based counseling clinic, and finally opened her own practice in 2017.

Taking what she learned from the traditional model of mental health care, Emily set out to create something different when she started her private practice. Her attention to detail in the whole client experience and treating her staff exceptionally well have built a reputation of excellence that is recognized by the community.

A Word From Emily:

I help motivated people transform their lives!

There are times in life when we simply feel “stuck.” Despite how bleak things may seem, there is always a reason to hope for change. I assume my clients are caring and capable. But, they may have come to a point where previous coping methods are not meeting their current challenges. My purposeful questions and insightful guidance help clients connect with their best selves. Thus allowing them to unlock solutions to the challenges they face.

As a therapist in Gallatin, TN, I know the struggles busy adults face.

It can be difficult to meet the demands of work, family, and nurturing happy relationships. Plus, I understand how difficult it is to focus on your happiness and health. Our culture’s hyper-focus on appearance and status can wreak havoc on your sense of worth. I know how defeating it is to set health and weight loss goals only to lose willpower and not follow through. I also know how devastating the loss of a loved one, a betrayal, or the loss of a relationship can be.

But I can help you create a vision for living your healthiest/happiest life. I will use and then use skilled therapeutic tools to empower you to achieve that vision.

Online therapy in Sumner County, TN, is an offering to my community

My own struggles and triumphs fuel it. Evidence-based approaches in counseling and behavior change also inform it. I also know how interrelated mental health, physical wellness, and relationships are. So, I work hard to help clients succeed in each area.

I founded Tennessee Mental Wellness as part of my passion to help folks unlock the awesomeness within. By doing so, they can stop settling for scraps and start claiming the fulfilling life they deserve. I truly believe it is within everyone’s capacity to experience more joy, relationship satisfaction, and wellness than they may be currently living. I want to help you experience that joyful life!

Originally from Indianapolis, I have grown to love the culture, landscape, and outdoor recreation of Nashville, TN. In my free time, you can find me doing a variety of outdoor activities. This may include hiking, snowboarding, paddle boarding, or hanging out with my three sons + two dogs. A day at home wouldn’t be complete without a morning meditation, tripping over a dog, and either reading or listening to a podcast.

I look forward to working with you! I’m honored to walk beside you in your Transformation Journey!
