About Dr. Clara thompson, psyd
Licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist
In-person in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee or Gallatin TN. PSYPACT-certified, so I can also offer telepsychology in any state that participates in PSYPACT. Services available in English and Spanish.
Who I Work With
Adults and children (for testing), military veterans and their families, attorneys and courts (for forensic, immigration, conservatorship, and custody cases), medical teams and patients (for transplant evaluations), and Spanish-speaking clients.
What I Specialize In
Dr. Thompson is assessment-only — she does not provide ongoing psychotherapy. Her evaluations include:
Psychodiagnostic evaluations
Clarifying a diagnosis when something feels unclear or has been hard to pin down.
Psychoeducational evaluations
Identifying learning differences and academic strengths/challenges.
Forensic evaluations
Objective, court-ready assessments for attorneys, courts, and referring professionals.
Immigration evaluations
Psychological assessments to support immigration cases.
Conservatorship evaluations
Assessing capacity for conservatorship proceedings.
Child custody evaluations
Assessments to inform custody decisions.
Transplant evaluations
Psychological readiness assessments for patients being considered for organ transplant.
What Brings My Ideal Client In
Most of the people I see aren't coming to me because they want an evaluation — they're coming because someone needs an answer. A parent whose child is struggling in school and no one can tell them why. A patient whose transplant team needs to understand how they'll cope. A family in the middle of a custody case who just wants someone neutral to look at the whole picture. An attorney who needs an opinion they can actually stand behind in court. My job is to give people clarity they can act on, and to do it in a way that treats everyone involved with respect.
How I Work
Psychodiagnostic & Psychoeducational Evaluation
Comprehensive testing using evidence-based measures to get a clear picture of what's going on — whether that's a diagnosis, a learning difference, or something affecting daily life, school, or work. The goal is to give clients and the people supporting them (doctors, schools, employers) something concrete to act on.
Forensic, Immigration, Conservatorship & Custody Evaluation
Objective, court-ready assessments grounded in current research and ethical standards. She approaches these cases with neutrality — her opinions are meant to hold up to legal scrutiny while still being clear and useful to attorneys, courts, and families.
Transplant Evaluation
Psychological assessments for patients being considered for organ transplant, done in coordination with medical teams to help understand how a patient is likely to cope with the transplant process.
My Style
Being evaluated can feel intimidating, especially when the outcome is high stakes — a diagnosis, a court decision, a transplant list. I try to make the process feel less like a test and more like a conversation. I'll ask thorough questions and use rigorous measures, but I never lose sight of the fact that there's a person in front of me who's probably a little nervous. Clients tend to tell me they felt heard, and that I was honest with them about what to expect.

A Little About Me
A Marine Corps veteran and mom, Dr. Thompson enjoys outdoor activities, reading, antique shopping, and building Legos with her kids.
Why I Became a Therapist
My time in the Marine Corps taught me how much people carry, often quietly. After I left the service and started raising my own family, I went back to school because I wanted to be the person who helps put language to what someone is going through — whether that's a diagnosis, a legal question, or a medical decision. I especially care about veterans and their families, because I understand that world from the inside, and about people facing complex health challenges, because I know how much it helps to have someone in your corner who takes the time to get it right.
What I Believe About Therapy
A good evaluation should make things clearer, not more confusing." "You deserve to understand your results, not just receive them." "Being neutral doesn't mean being cold — I can be objective and still treat you with care.
